Heating and Cooling in Creve Coeur, MO

Heating and cooling in Creve Coeur covers houses built mostly in the 1960s and 1970s and a business district of offices, labs and medical buildings along Olive Boulevard. Kenan Corporation reaches ZIP 63141 in about 40 minutes from our base near Spanish Lake in normal traffic.

Brick and frame two-story houses with deep lawns and mature oak trees along a winding west county street

Creve Coeur is about 40 minutes from our base near Spanish Lake in normal traffic, and the city's character comes from two things sitting next to each other. Houses here were built mostly in the 1960s and 1970s, and Olive Boulevard and then I-270 drew the growth. Along that corridor sit Bayer, the Danforth Plant Science Center, the 39 North innovation district and two hospitals, so the commercial buildings and the houses ask very different things of a technician.

One city, two jobs: hospitals and labs versus 1970s houses

Point2Homes shows the 1970s as the largest decade of construction in Creve Coeur at 23 percent of homes, followed by the 1960s. Houses from those decades commonly follow two-story and split-level plans, and many have since gained additions or finished basements. A system sized for the original footprint can struggle after a family room goes on the back, and a replacement that copies the old nameplate repeats the problem.

Two-story houses often run two thermostats and two systems.

The business side is a different scale. Hospital and laboratory systems are beyond light commercial work, but small offices and suites off Olive Boulevard are not. A split system or a single rooftop unit on a low office building is something Kenan Corporation does handle.

Finished basements, additions and the uneven-room call

Heat rises, and a two-story house from this era shows it every July. The National Weather Service recorded 49 days at or above 90°F in St. Louis in 2025, so the upstairs bedroom that runs five degrees warmer is a recurring complaint, not a fluke. Before anyone prices a bigger condenser, we look at supply and return airflow, damper settings and whether the finished basement closed off the return path.

Furnace Replacement

Houses from the 1960s and 1970s are on their second or third furnace, and the flue and gas line need to be checked when one is replaced.

AC Replacement

Additions and finished basements change the cooling load, so a replacement in a Creve Coeur house from the 1960s or 1970s starts with a load calculation of the rooms as they are today, not the old nameplate.

Furnace Repair

A furnace that heats the first floor but not an upstairs addition is usually a duct, damper or blower problem, so a repair visit here begins with airflow at the registers before anyone talks about replacement.

AC Repair

Upstairs bedrooms in two-story houses warm first, so a Creve Coeur cooling call often turns out to be a low airflow or return problem rather than a dead compressor, and the visit checks both before quoting parts.

Commercial HVAC Maintenance

Small offices and suites off Olive Boulevard run split systems or a single rooftop unit, and filter, coil and drain checks scheduled ahead of the cooling season catch problems that otherwise surface on the first hot afternoon.

Rooftop Unit Service

Low office buildings along Olive Boulevard commonly cool from one packaged rooftop unit, so service covers belts, filters, coils and the condensate line, while hospital and laboratory plants stay outside the light commercial scope.

Thermostat Installation

Two-story houses with a thermostat on each floor often have a wiring, zoning or placement problem that looks like equipment failure, and replacing or relocating a thermostat can settle it before any parts are ordered.

Owner, tenant or landlord: who approves the repair?

Census QuickFacts puts owner occupancy in Creve Coeur at 61.9 percent for 2019 through 2023, which leaves roughly four in ten households renting. That changes the call. A tenant reports the failure, but the landlord or property manager usually approves the repair and owns the equipment. Tell us who that is, so the findings and the quote reach the person who can say yes.

Spire gas or Ameren electric: the first question on a no-heat call

Spire supplies natural gas here and Ameren Missouri supplies electricity, so a no-heat call starts with a simple question: gas furnace, heat pump or electric strip heat? A gas smell in a Creve Coeur house means walking out first, then dialing 911 or Spire at 800-887-4173 from the yard or the street.

Booking from a 63141 address

Check which city the address belongs to, since ZIP 63141 is shared with Town and Country. Then describe the symptom and the equipment age. Two-story houses here may run one system per floor, so say which level has the problem and whether the other level is fine. The technician diagnoses before replacing parts, explains the findings in plain language and gives a clear, upfront quote. After a repair, the technician also checks that the other system in the house is running normally. We are open 24 hours.

What Creve Coeur says about permits and county licenses

The City of Creve Coeur says a licensed St. Louis County mechanical contractor pulls the permit for a replacement furnace or air conditioner, and the city inspects the work afterward. Community Development sits in the Government Center on New Ballas Road, and the city runs an online permit portal. St. Louis County's mechanical licensing clerk is at (314) 615-7096 if you want to confirm a license.

The Government Center is at 300 N. New Ballas Road and the city lists its hours as 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ask the installing contractor to write the permit line into the quote, to say who files it, and to tell you when the city inspection happens. Keep the closed permit with the equipment paperwork, because the next buyer or insurer may ask for it.

The Dielmann Recreation Complex sits inside the city, and Creve Coeur Lake, which gave the city its name, now lies in neighboring Maryland Heights. Our furnace replacement and AC replacement pages walk through sizing and quotes.

Heating and Cooling in Creve Coeur: common questions

Who pulls the permit for a furnace or AC replacement in Creve Coeur?

A licensed St. Louis County mechanical contractor pulls the permit, and the city inspects afterward, according to the City of Creve Coeur. Put the permit line in the written quote and ask any contractor, including us, for the St. Louis County license number. Creve Coeur Community Development answers questions at 314-872-2501.

Is ZIP 63141 only Creve Coeur?

No. ZIP 63141 is shared with the neighboring city of Town and Country, so the ZIP does not tell you which city's rules apply. Check your municipality on a tax bill or the county parcel page before asking about a permit. We serve both sides of that line.

Do you service small offices near Olive Boulevard?

Yes, light commercial work is part of what Kenan Corporation does. That means small offices and suites with split systems or a single rooftop unit. The large hospital and laboratory systems in the area are a different scale, so call first with the equipment type and we will say whether it fits.

How far is Creve Coeur from the Broadhead Lane base?

About 40 minutes in normal traffic. We are open 24 hours and offer same-day service when the schedule allows, but we do not promise an arrival time. For a no-heat or no-cooling call, give the street and the equipment age so the visit starts with the right plan.

Kenna did an amazing job! I had another company come out and told me I needed a new furnace because my heat was not coming on. Previous company said could be the motor/fan and that would cost $650, which I was ok with. They didn’t check any parts, but was ready to say I should just get a new heating and cooling unit. I knew my neighbor had service done by Kenyan and said he did a great job. He came out and found it was a capacitor that was causing the issue and fixed it. He is awesome and definitely if I need help again, he will be called and I will use his services!
