Heating and Cooling in Troy, MO

Troy is northwest of the metro, in Lincoln County, and it is a long drive from us. We reach it in about 1 hour 25 minutes from our Broadhead Lane base in normal traffic, so call first and we will confirm what scheduling looks like.

From 3,811 to 12,686 residents: Troy's growth and its air conditioners

Census figures show Troy at 3,811 residents in 1990, 6,737 in 2000, 10,540 in 2010 and 12,686 in 2020. Housing units rose from 4,141 in 2010 to 4,821 in 2020. US 61 east of the city and Missouri 47 along its north side are the main roads around town. Homes from the 2000s boom now have equipment at the age where repair costs and replacement quotes belong in the same conversation.

The older core around the Lincoln County Courthouse, built in 1869 and 1870, is a different job: smaller mechanical spaces and equipment added decades after the house.

680 new homes in ten years: first systems at six to sixteen

Troy's housing count rose from 4,141 units in 2010 to 4,821 in 2020, which is 680 added homes in a decade. A system installed with one of those homes is now six to sixteen years old. Failures at that age are usually small: a weak capacitor, a pitted contactor, a drain line that has begun to clog. Check your paperwork for any terms on the equipment before you call anyone, because they differ by builder and manufacturer. A fault-code photo and the model number let us say over the phone whether it sounds like a part or something larger.

What jobs suit a 1 hour 25 minute drive?

Planned work fits best. For a no-heat night, call a closer company and talk to us about the repair or replacement afterward.

Downtown Troy Historic District: 39 buildings from 1832 to 1966

The Downtown Troy Historic District, which includes the 1869 to 1870 Lincoln County Courthouse, covers 9.3 acres and 39 contributing buildings, and was listed on the National Register on October 30, 2013. Buildings with that range of ages have mechanical spaces designed before central air, and the equipment in them was added in pieces. Tell us what serves each floor and where it sits. A small shop or office with a failing split or rooftop unit is a light commercial repair we can discuss, but call first for scheduling.

Ameren or Cuivre River: the Troy electric question

The City of Troy's relocation page names Ameren Missouri as the main electricity and natural gas supplier inside city limits and says Cuivre River Electric Cooperative serves some properties east of town. Ameren's 2026 rebate chart, valid through December 31, covers Ameren customers only, and a participating contractor files the paperwork. Where no gas main reaches, a home heats with propane or electricity.

Rural lots often split between propane, electric and gas heating.

Gas main or propane tank: price the fuel before the furnace

Inside city limits, the City of Troy's relocation page names Ameren Missouri for natural gas, so a replacement furnace can stay on the existing line. Past the main, the choice is propane, electric heat or a heat pump with a furnace backup. Ameren's 2026 chart pays $2,000 per system for qualifying air-source heat pumps in dual-fuel cases, but only for Ameren customers. Cuivre River members east of town should ask the cooperative about its programs. We do not claim participation in Ameren's contractor program, so confirm terms in writing.

A planned replacement from 53 miles out, step by step

  1. Call with the equipment's age, the symptom and the fuel.
  2. We talk through the options by phone and say whether a visit is needed.
  3. A technician visits to measure the house and run a load calculation.
  4. You receive a clear, upfront written quote with the permit question answered.
  5. The installing contractor pulls the permit and installs, and you ask for the final inspection record.

Calling first, and permit questions in Lincoln County

Tell us the equipment's age, the symptom and any fault code. The technician diagnoses first, explains the cause, and gives a clear, upfront quote before work. Ask the City of Troy, or Lincoln County Planning and Zoning outside the city, whether a replacement needs a permit. Our heat pump installation and furnace installation pages cover fuel and sizing choices.

Does the city or Lincoln County handle HVAC permits near Troy?

Kenna did an amazing job! I had another company come out and told me I needed a new furnace because my heat was not coming on. Previous company said could be the motor/fan and that would cost $650, which I was ok with. They didn’t check any parts, but was ready to say I should just get a new heating and cooling unit. I knew my neighbor had service done by Kenyan and said he did a great job. He came out and found it was a capacitor that was causing the issue and fixed it. He is awesome and definitely if I need help again, he will be called and I will use his services!
